Anil-Babesia rodhaini Monoclonal Antibodies: Effect against Babesia rodhaini and Cross-reactivity with Human Starin of Babesia microti OAK
Claveria, Florencia G.; Omata, Yoshitaka; Takehara, Tokuma; Saito, Atsushi; Maki, Yoshiyuki; Igarashi, Ikuo; Suzuki, Naoyoshi.
Anti-Babesia rodhaini monoclonal antibodies (mAb), namely: 1-E7, 2-H2 and 3-B8, significantly suppressed the development of high parasitemia in BALB/c mice infected with B. rodhaini and all mAb-treated mice survived the infection. While, only monoclonal antibody 3-B8 showed some inhibitory effect against Babesia microti, with mice showing high parasitemia of 18.04 ± 2.69 %, at 9 days post-exposure. Westernblot analysis of B. rodhaini and B. microti parasite extract reacted with anti-B. rodhaini monoclonal antibodies showed cross-reactive bands of molecular weights 62 and 55 kilodaltons. Comparison of the antigenic components of B. rodhaini and B. microti using polyspecific sera revealed several shared or common parasite antigens of molecular weights 62,...

IgE cross-reactivity between Lolium multiflorum and commercial grass pollen allergen extracts in Brazilian patients with pollinosis BJMBR
Bernardes,C.T.; Moreira,P.F.; Sopelete,M.C.; Vieira,F.A.; Sung,S.S.; Silva,D.A.; Taketomi,E.A..
Lolium multiflorum (Lm) grass pollen is the major cause of pollinosis in Southern Brazil. The objectives of this study were to investigate immunodominant components of Lm pollen allergens and the cross-reactivity of IgE with commercial grass pollen allergen extracts. Thirty-eight serum samples from patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR), 35 serum samples from patients with perennial allergic rhinitis (PAR) and 30 serum samples from non-atopic subjects were analyzed. Allergen sensitization was evaluated using skin prick test and serum IgE levels against Lm pollen extract were determined by ELISA. Inhibition ELISA and immunoblot were used to evaluate the cross-reactivity of IgE between allergens from Lm and commercial grass pollen extracts, including...

Immunologic cross-reactivity between Muscovy duck parvovirus and goose parvovirus on the basis of epitope prediction BJM
Li,Ming; Yu,Tian-fei.
Through bioinformatic prediction, between Muscovy duck parvovirus (MDPV) and goose parvovirus (GPV), there were one epitope AA503-509 (RANEPKE) on non-structural protein and three epitopes AA426-430 (SQDLD), 540-544 (DPYRS), 685-691 (KENSKRW) on structural protein might cross-react with each other. Furthermore, the four epitops were expressed in Escherichia coli. All the four recombinant proteins could react with GPV-antisera and MDPV-antisera in Western blot.

Presence of autoantibodies against HeLa small nuclear ribonucleoproteins in chagasic and non-chagasic cardiac patients BJMBR
Bosetto,M.C.; Peixoto,M.S.; Castro,L.I.R. de; Cicarelli,R.M.B..
We detected anti-human small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) autoantibodies in chagasic patients by different immunological methods using HeLa snRNPs. ELISA with Trypanosoma cruzi total lysate antigen or HeLa human U small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (UsnRNPs) followed by incubation with sera from chronic chagasic and non-chagasic cardiac patients was used to screen and compare serum reactivity. Western blot analysis using a T. cruzi total cell extract was also performed in order to select some sera for Western blot and immunoprecipitation assays with HeLa nuclear extract. ELISA showed that 73 and 95% of chronic chagasic sera reacted with HeLa UsnRNPs and T. cruzi antigens, respectively. The Western blot assay demonstrated that non-chagasic cardiac sera...

THE IMMUNOCHEMICAL REACTIVITY AND NEUTRALIZING CAPACITY OF POLYVALENT Vipera (EUROPEAN) ANTIVENOM ON ENZYMATIC AND TOXIC ACTIVITIES IN THE VENOMS OF CROTALIDS FROM ARGENTINA J. Venom. Anim. Toxins
ROODT,A.R. de; DOLAB,J. A.; SEGRE,L.; SIMONCINI,C.; HAJOS,S. E.; FERNANDEZ,T.; DOKMETJIAN,J. C.; LITWIN,S.; ACCATTOLI,C.; VIDAL,J. C..
The immunochemical reactivity and neutralizing capacity of polyvalent Vipera antivenom (Vipera ammodytes, Vipera aspis, Vipera berus, Vipera lebetina, and Vipera xanthina) were tested on the enzymatic and biological activities of Crotalus durissus terrificus and the following Bothrops venoms from Argentina (Bothrops alternatus, Bothrops ammodytoides, Bothrops neuwiedii, Bothrops jararaca, Bothrops jararacussu, and Bothrops moojeni). The Vipera antivenom reacted weakly when tested by double immunoprecipitation (DIP) and reacted with all the venoms when tested by ELISA. Several components in all the venoms studied were recognized in Western blots. Vipera antivenom deactivated to different degrees in vitro procoagulant, (indirect) hemolytic, and proteolytic...
